Medicare and Long-Term Care

Medicare will pay for long-term care under the following conditions:

  • Patient must have prior 3 day hospital stay.

  • Must need skilled care and receive care in a Medicare-approved facility.

  • Medicare will pay for the first 20 days of skilled care. Then from the 21st day through the 100th day Medicare will pay after you pay a $124.00 per day deductible.  After 100 days Medicare will pay nothing.
