Cost of Long-Term Care in the U.S.

Printer Friendly Version

The average cost for Nursing Homes in the United States in 2006 was nearly $70,912 per year.  By the year 2030, the national average cost is estimated to be $190,660 a year.

Why do I need to know the cost of care in other States? Children have a tendency to move away from their hometowns after leaving the nest. They may have moved away and established their lives in another part of the country. Instead of  interrupting their lives you may consider moving closer to them to make it easier for them to be involved in your care.  Especially when you are the widowed and have no other primary caregiver.

What was the average Nursing Home, Assisted Living and Home Health Care cost  in your or any other State? These cost averages are for the year 2004. The current rates may be about 5% - 7% higher than what is shown in the chart.

Remember: The costs shown are an average for the entire State and rates maybe higher or lower depending on the availability of beds in your area.
