Alzheimer's Disease is
a degenerative brain disease that strikes the elderly. Alzheimer's can
last for several years before it takes the life of the victim.
Cognitive
Impairment means
a deficiency in a person's short-term or long-term memory;
orientation as to person,
place, or time; deductive or abstract reasoning; or judgment as it
relates to safety awareness.
The need for substantial
assistance due to the presence of
Cognitive Impairment must be established by such clinical evidence
and standardized tests.
Dementia causes
impaired mental functioning resulting from a variety
of illnesses, such as Alzheimer's.
